We seeks qualified candidates to join our metro staff team. Full-time and part-time positions are available commensurate with experience and the ability to raise financial support.
The Navigators began in 1933 with a simple aim to help others to know and follow Jesus Christ. Today More than 5000 staff members of 70 nationalities serve in over 100 countries, in over 170 languages, and among 220 peoples.
In the US, Navigators are equipped to disciple students, military personnel, businessmen and women, church leaders, inner-city families, and new believers from all walks of life.
The US Navigators platforms eleven missions focused on unique target audiences. These include:
STAFF OPTIONS TO CONSIDER:
Short Term Collegiate Staff:
Longer Term Staff (Collegiate or other missions)
FUNDING:
Various funding models are available for people interested in long-term staff. Fund-raising training is provided to all staff so that individuals can raise financial support from family, friends, individuals, churches and foundations.
Three funding models:
In order to be eligible for health care benefits as a Navigator employee, individuals must work a minimum of 20 hours per week on staff.
All Navigator missionary budgets are set according to a salary scale approved by ministry leaders and the Navigators board of directors. All staff are responsible to raise 100% of their approved budget which may include the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry creation, leadership, evangelism, discipleship, teaching, public speaking, team-building, team-work, fund-raising, coordinating retreats & conferences, directing spring break trips & summer programs, church relations.
QUALIFICATIONS
An ideal applicant would have a Bachelors degree and at least three years of work experience or graduate studies, and a demonstrated track record of significant achievement and leadership within their professional and/or academic career.
He or she would have a strong Biblical background, a proven commitment to evangelism and discipleship, and the ability to adapt to the culture of a college campus, neighborhood or work place. In terms of work style, the candidate would need to be a self-starter, with the motivation to own tasks and work independently, but also the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Strong personal commitment to invest in the vision and mission of The Navigators is highly valued, so candidates must be mature and growing Christians.
Professional profiles of top candidates might include experienced, recent seminary graduates, youth or campus ministers, associate pastors, educators, engineers, business or non-profit leaders or strategy consultants.

- Navigators 20's (serving and reaching people in their 20's who have begun their careers)
- Workplace (serving and reaching business professionals who are more established in their careers)
- Church Discipleship (helping local churches develop an intentional disciple-making culture)
- Isaiah 58 (engaging in whole-life discipleship in under-resourced communities)
- International Students (In Boston there are 50,000 international students)
- Military (In Boston there are ROTC students, military academy grad students, and two military installations)
- Nations Within (serving and reaching immigrant populations)
- Missions (raising up missionaries to move to the 100 nations where the Navigators have a presence)
- NavNeighbors (reaching unreached people in neighborhoods and communities)
- Encore (Serving and reaching those in a later chapter of life who want to finish well)
STAFF OPTIONS TO CONSIDER:
Short Term Collegiate Staff:
- Collegiate - The EDGE Corps (www.edgecorps.org) provides an opportunity for recent college graduates to gain experience in evangelism and discipleship with an existing campus ministry. EDGE teams are typically comprised of two men and two women who serve together for one or two years under the leadership of an experienced staff leader. Nationwide, the Navigators place 80—100 EDGE Corps staff each year.
Qualifications:
An ideal applicant would have a bachelor’s degree, a strong Biblical background, an eagerness to grow in evangelism and discipleship, and the ability to adapt to the culture of a college campus. In terms of work style, the candidate would need to be a self-starter, with the motivation to own tasks, but also must have the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, and to work under the leadership of a campus director.
Strong personal commitment to invest in the vision and mission of The Navigators is highly valued, so candidates must be mature and growing Christians. - Local collegiate mission staff:
Some individuals serve with the collegiate mission as short term staff either in part-time or volunteer capacities. They serve with a local team as time and finances allow, or they carry out an administrative function, helping with event coordination, database management, communication strategy or website design.
Longer Term Staff (Collegiate or other missions)
- Staff-in-Training
The Northeast Navigators are also looking for career-minded individuals who would like to consider long term ministry positions in one of the 11 missions. This path typically involved 2-3 years of staff training depending on one's previous ministry experience, after which an individual can serve either as a local director, local team member or on the regional leadership team.
- Staff Associate
Some staff members choose to serve long-term as staff associates in that they have another primary or secondary vocation that provides conventional income as well as vocational fulfillment. With this model they are able to give 5-20 hours per week to the Navigators.
FUNDING:
Various funding models are available for people interested in long-term staff. Fund-raising training is provided to all staff so that individuals can raise financial support from family, friends, individuals, churches and foundations.
Three funding models:
- Some staff are fully vocational in that they are full time employees of the Navigators and have reached full-funding to provide for themselves and for their families if married.
- Some staff are bi-vocational in that they have alternately employed spouses, or they work part-time in another vocation and part-time for the Navigators, or they have an alternate income stream.
- Staff Associates may draw some gift income to cover ministry expenses and program operating costs.
